Central Rural Electric Cooperative maintains more than 4,000 miles of electrical line. That’s the equivalent of a trip to Vancouver, Canada and back.
When storms cause major power outages, Central linemen work around the clock to restore electricity as quickly and safely as possible. However, with so many miles to maintain it could take some time. Generators can help keep your power running even during the most extreme weather.
“We have always had good luck with CREC and have been members since the ‘70s,” said Ronald Thrasher, Central member from Coyle. “We had wanted a generator for a long time, and when we saw an ad for the generator program, we made the call and asked a few questions about it.”
Central and Generator Supercenter have teamed up to offer members automatic standby generator systems. The program includes free turnkey installation, 24/7 service, annual maintenance, a warranty and remote monitoring.
“About a week after they installed the generator, there was an outage and the generator turned on the minute the power went out,” Thrasher said. “We didn’t even notice the power had gone out.”
During the site survey, a team member from Generator Supercenter will walk through your wants and needs to determine what size generator to recommend for your home.
Thrasher continued, “The main thing that impressed us was the gentleman who came for the survey and helped us through the process. We had a really nice visit and it felt like a family ordeal.”
If you are interested in the generator program, a good tip is to make a list of essential appliances and devices you want to be powered during outages before the site survey. Also, read this article on generator safety.
