Safety First
Safety is not only a core value but also a core focus area for Central. It is our responsibility to educate and protect ourselves, coworkers, members and the public from hazards exposed by the nature of our work.
Safety is at the top of our priorities. Whether you're at home, on the road or working alongside us in the community, we're dedicated to providing reliable energy while focusing on safety for everyone.
Though it is something we all interact with almost constantly, electricity can be harmful and even deadly. In 2018, USA Today ranked electrical power-line installers and repairers as the 15th most dangerous job in America. Central Rural Electric Cooperative makes safety the highest priority for both employees and the public. This is shown through Central's Safety First culture. The cooperative's Safety First campaign communicates safety awareness to employees and our membership.
Live Line Trailer Demonstrations
Turning a safety lesson into a shockingly good time! Central's Live Line Trailer demonstrations is a mobile educational unit that provides a powerful, interactive way to teach electrical safety. Linemen use the live power lines to showcase real-world scenarios, such as how electricity can "arc" or jump from a live wire to a conductive object. This demonstration highlights the critical need for safety when near power lines.
The live line trailer is a popular feature at schools and community events, offering a hands-on, visual approach to learning about electrical safety. It is especially impactful for students, community groups, first responders, and contractors who work near power lines.
Schools, organizations and groups can schedule a demonstration by calling 405-372-2884.
