The Central Rural Electric Cooperative board of trustees has appointed James Wells as the new trustee for District 6, following the retirement of Raymond Nettles.
Four candidates filed to run for the position, which was voted on at the District 6 Meeting Sept. 24. While a quorum was met, no candidate received a majority vote, which is needed to secure the position. Per the cooperative’s bylaws, the candidates were interviewed, and the board appointed Wells. Wells was also the candidate who received the most votes at the District 6 meeting.
“The board of trustees interviewed four exceptional candidates and believes James will serve district 6 members well,” said Bill Davis, Central Board President. “We are pleased with the engagement from the members and the interest that was shown in the trustee position. We would like to thank each candidate for the time invested during the election process.”
Wells is the president of A&B Eco-Safe Pest Control, Diversified Resources Group, and the owner and manager of Alpine Investment Properties. He has been a member of Central for 23 years. Wells is also a current board member of the Bandit Football Association, Stillwater Chamber of Commerce and has been a local youth sports coach since 1993.
Headquartered in Stillwater, Central Rural Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit electric cooperative that serves approximately 20,000 meters in seven-central Oklahoma counties.
