Richmond Elementary Receives Grant

The Central Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up board recently approved a $1,750 grant to Richmond Elementary to purchase five iPads to help provide individualized instruction to remedial reading students.

Richmond Elementary’s Title I Reading Team currently has limited technology available to use with at-risk students. With the purchase of five iPads, the team will be able to provide a multifaceted approach to learning needed skills and enhance the learning of a large school-wide population.

The iPads will also be used in tutoring sessions and testing programs. Students will also receive additional opportunities to develop reading comprehension and vocabulary skills through various programs and apps.

Central Electric Cooperative's Operation Round Up® (previously the Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative) is a charitable organization that distributes funds to individuals and organizations throughout the communities within Central's service area. Independent of Central Electric Cooperative, the Operation Round Up board administers the program, making grants available from money donated by Central members who choose to round up their electric bill to the nearest dollar. Visit www.MyCentral.coop and click on the "Community" tab located at the top of the page for more information about Operation Round Up®.
