Life Adult Day Center Receives Grant

The Central Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up board recently approved a $3,455 grant to the Life Adult Day Center in Stillwater to help fund a new flooring project to enhance participants’ mobility.

Since 1983, the Life Adult Day Center has been serving adults with health issues and disabilities in Stillwater and surrounding areas. The center provides supplemental care and companionship to participants 18 years and older during the day. The center provides nursing services, speech and memory therapy, personal care, therapeutic activities, outings and socialization. The population of the center is made up of participants who battle many different diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, strokes, development disorders, diabetes and many more. On average, the day center serves 66 participants and 152 caregivers annually.

The center plans to use the grant to replace stained and frayed carpet throughout the building.  With help from this grant, the new vinyl plank flooring will provide easier transitions in hallways and bathrooms for participants who rely on mobility aids or have visual impairments.

Central Electric Cooperative's Operation Round Up® (previously the Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative) is a charitable organization that distributes funds to individuals and organizations throughout the communities within Central's service area. Independent of Central Electric Cooperative, the Operation Round Up board administers the program, making grants available from money donated by Central members who choose to round up their electric bill to the nearest dollar. Visit www.MyCentral.coop and click on the "Community" tab located at the top of the page for more information about Operation Round Up®.
