Oklahoma Sierra Club Receives Grant

The Central Electric Cooperative Operation Round Up board recently approved a $2,000 grant to the Sierra Club’s Oklahoma Chapter to help fund the Oklahoma Renewable Energy Education Program.

The goal of OREEP is to provide Oklahoma teachers with a comprehensive renewable energy curriculum to educate the state’s K-12 students. The program is designed to equip Oklahoma students for potential careers in renewable energy and provide leadership skills. The Oklahoma Sierra Club will launch the program in the 2018-2019 school year.

Established in 1972, The Oklahoma Chapter of the Sierra Club has more than 4,300 members. Through the efforts of numerous dedicated volunteers, the chapter organizes frequent outdoor activities, social events, conservation activities, and educational outreach efforts.

Central Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® (previously the Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative) is a charitable organization that distributes funds to individuals and organizations throughout the communities within Central’s service area. Independent of Central Electric Cooperative, the Operation Round Up board administers the program, making grants available from money donated by Central members who choose to round up their electric bill to the nearest dollar. Visit www.MyCentral.coop and click on the “Community” tab located at the top of the page for more information about Operation Round Up®.
